January 2008: a walk around the
house
Summer harvest! |
This Kennebec potato weighs 646g. Is that good or
bad? It ends up as mashed potato and tastes very good! |
The bore! It is 52m deep and delivers
6000 litres of
water per hour. |
| The dry summer isn't very good for
hay making. The grass hasn't grown too well, but we end up with
246 bales of hay. Enough for the ponies and the mulching for a
year. |

January 2008 in the orchard

The orchard in the middle of summer. We deep water once a week but will
need to water twice weekly if the very dry and warm conditions continue.
No rain in January! It is the driest January in recorded history in
Hobart. The Wellington apples in the right photo are doing very well,
though.
