October 2007: a walk around the house

The natives and crab apples thrive in the spring sun.

The ponies still carry their thick winter coats and don't like the warm weather at all.

The apple trees in the small orchard have
all taken root and grow well.

Asparagus

We plant a great variety of seeds in seedlings trays in the greenhouse. The seedlings grow well and everything looks good. We still use our greywater for all the watering in the garden. Usually that works very well, but it just doesn't work for the smaller seedlings. Many of them die. Once we realize what has happened, we start over again and only use freshwater to water them.

Pink Eyes, early potatoes, planted in August.

Broad beans in the first row, then a row of Bintje and Dutch Cream potatoes planted in September and behind that the Pink Eyes.

Silke plants out the corn seedlings that were raised in the greenhouse
