November 2007: a walk around the
house
|
|
|
|
Left: fresh green grass grows on all paddocks.
Right: we take the big step and ask a "dowser" to look for water
on our property. I really have to bite my tongue very hard to avoid laughing,
as he walks across the land with his wishbone made from a willow branch.
Finally the verdict is in: the rock and the stick mark the spot. 1600 litres
of water in 170 feet depth. This is where we will drill. Do we really believe
in dowsing? Maybe not, but the drilling contractor insisted on having the
dowser here before he would start.

We planted various types of potatoes between August and October. The photo

last batch. |

Cherries! But the tree drops them before they have time
to ripen.

|
Nectarines. We pick off all the fruit, though. The
nectarine tree showed heave leave curl last summer and we treated it
with Bordeaux. It still isn't very strong. |
