Leek

Companion planting:
Likes: carrots, celery, marjoram, onions, parsnip, strawberries

The following are only guidelines taken from a variety of books. I grew leeks in the last two years with inconclusive results.

Sow September to November, also sow in greenhouse in December, then separate seedlings, keep well-spaced in larger pots, plant out in April; harvest April to September.

Sow leek in non-rotation beds.

Plant leek seedlings in 15 cm deep trenches, fertilized with complete organic fertilizer. Plant them 10 cm apart, cover them with soil up to the first leaf joint. In the following months as they grow keep covering leeks up the first leaf joint.
